Bienvenue! Welcome to our French classes for parents /carers of students enrolled at CJC.
Join us to gain solid foundations in the French language and culture. During this course, you will master the basics of French grammar and
vocabulary and enjoy simple conversations with your tutor and classmates. Boost your confidence with practical exercises led by

Beginner 2 Express
You’ve got the basics from Beginner 1, or perhaps you’ve taken a French class before.
In this session, you will continue to learn the foundations of French grammar and vocabulary, talking about the weather, getting around town, going shopping, and making plans.
Grammar points will include:
- Conjugating key verbs
- Asking questions
- Placing adverbs to describe frequency
- Describing quantity
- Demonstrative adjectives

Beginner 3 Express
You have a strong grasp of the foundations of French grammar, and a good range of vocabulary.
It's time to build on those skills and start using more descriptions in French, including: how we dress, tell a story, describe our habits etc.
Among other grammar topics, this class will cover:
- Conjugating key verbs
- Speaking about the past
- Questions
- Obligation and possibility using the verbs devoir and pouvoir

You’ve mastered the basics and are making good progress in French!
In this course, you will expand your vocabulary by talking about family, health, housing, and giving your opinion on a range of topics.

- Giving instructions
- Speaking in the past tense

As you approach the end of our Beginner program, your French is moving to the next level.
In this session, you will consolidate your knowledge and see how far you have come. As your language skills and confidence develop, so too

- Revising verb tenses
- Pronouns
- Discussing quantity using the pronoun en
- Asking for information and understanding announcements

Mon cours en ligne - Absolute Beginner (A1.1)
Eager to start your French-learning journey but can’t commit to weekly classes or prefer to study independently?
Look no further! Our French distance-learning program guarantees quality lessons that you can follow from the comfort of your own space, anytime, anywhere.
Developed by Institut Français, Mon cours en ligne is an intensive, online French course that gives you the flexibility to work independently while gaining a solid foundation in the French language and culture.
We are excited to offer this course (level A1.1) which is suitable for complete beginners in French.
What's included?
Online platform
- 24-hour access to the Mon cours en ligne platform for 12 weeks
- A range of immersive, self-study exercises, resources, and assessments to progress through each unit
- 5 units to complete Level A1.1
- 30 hours of study – we recommend around 3 hours of independent study per week to complete one unit every two weeks
- Level certificate – students are expected to complete all activities and assessment exercises. Upon completion, you will receive
your certificate and become eligible to move to the next level
Live Tutor-Led Sessions (online via Zoom)
- Seven, 45-minute sessions with an AF Melbourne tutor. This will be your opportunity to ask questions, practise speaking French, and
complete the required speaking tasks.
- Small groups, maximum 6 students
Students enrolled in Mon cours en ligne will also receive access to our Culturethèque
digital library.
