Children 1

10-week courses

This course is for primary-school aged children who have never learnt French before, providing them with an opportunity to be introduced to the French language! Children will learn a range of vocabulary and language structures in French, such as greeting and introducing themselves, counting, introducing their family, naming objects and animals, talk about their hobbies, likes and dislikes, how to talk about the time, describe someone’s physical appearance, and give and follow instructions.

Children remain in this level for the whole year.

Pace: 1.50 hours per week over 10 weeks

Children 2

10-week courses

This course is for children who have completed Children 1 or who have met with our tutor to assess their level in French. Children will learn a range of vocabulary and language structures in French, such as how to introduce themselves or someone else, ask for and give the time, talk about their daily routine, express likes, dislikes and hobbies, count up to 1000, introduce their family, describe the weather, follow directions to make a recipe.

Children remain in this level for the whole year.

Enfants Francophones (Années 1-3)

10-week courses

Cours réservé et conçu spécifiquement pour les enfants francophones bilingues, à partir de l'année 1 (6 ans), jusqu'à l'année 3 (8 ans). Les objectifs sont adaptés en fonction de l'âge et du niveau des enfants, sur le modèle des classes multi-niveaux françaises. Ce cours se compose d'une variété d'activités et d'exercices collaboratifs, visant le développement et renforcement de la langue française.

Objectifs: Apprentissage de la lecture et de l'écriture, initiation à la grammaire et à la conjugaison

Children remain in this level for the whole year.

Enfants Francophones (Années 4-6)

10-week courses

Cours réservé et conçu spécifiquement pour les enfants francophones bilingues, à partir de l'année 4 (9 ans), jusqu'à l'année 6 (12 ans). Les objectifs sont adaptés en fonction de l'âge et du niveau des enfants, sur le modèle des classes multi-niveaux françaises. Ce cours se compose d'une variété d'activités et d'exercices collaboratifs, visant le développement et renforcement de la langue française.

Objectifs: Travail sur la structure et l'enrichissement de la langue (grammaire, conjugaison, orthographe et vocabulaire), développement des compétences de compréhension et production d'écrits.

Children remain in this level for the whole year.

French is Fun! - Beginners

1-week courses for children

Join us on an adventure to discover the world of French bandes dessinées (comic books) through this one-week holiday program! This course is for children who are beginners in French, and will introduce children to basic French vocabulary using a variety of famous Franco-Belgian comic books such as Tintin, Astérix, and the Smurfs. 

Level: This class is for beginners in French.

Requirements: Parents should provide a morning/lunch snack for their children each day (no nuts please).


Pace: 3 hours a day for 5 days

French is Fun! Intermediate

1-week courses for children

Join us on an adventure to discover the world of French bandes dessinées (comic books) through this one-week holiday program! This course is for children who have studied some French (at least one year), and will introduce children to basic French vocabulary using a variety of famous Franco-Belgian comic books such as Tintin, Astérix, and the Smurfs. 

Level: This class is for intermediate French speakers. Students should have completed at least 1 year of French prior to enrolling. Not sure about your child's level? Contact our children's course coordinator here to arrange a level assessment.

Requirements: Parents should provide a morning/lunch snack for their children each day (no nuts please).


Pace: 3 hours a day for 5 days

Lauriston French Club 1 (Year 1 to Year 3)

9-week courses for children

This course is for students who are currently enrolled at Lauriston Girls' School in Years 1 to 3, who are beginners or have a little knowledge of French.

Our French clubs provide younger learners with the opportunity to learn French through a stimulating program, teaching children to communicate in French through games, songs and a variety of fun activities.


Pace: 1 hour per week over 9 weeks

Lauriston French Club 2 (Year 4 to Year 6)

9-week courses for children

This course is for students who are currently enrolled at Lauriston Girls' School in Years 4 to 6, who are beginners or have a little knowledge of French.

Our French clubs provide younger learners with the opportunity to learn French through a stimulating program, teaching children to communicate in French through games, songs and a variety of fun activities.


Pace: 1 hour per week over 9 weeks
KINDERGARTEN

Les Maternelles

10-week courses

Les Maternelles is designed for pre-school children aged 3-5, to provide young learners with a fun introduction to everyday French! Each session is packed with hands-on learning activities, all designed to help children develop social skills and interact in a group. Using games, arts & crafts, stories, songs and other activities, the teacher introduces and reinforces French vocabulary and phrases.

Please provide your child with her/his own snack for snack time (no nuts). This program is strictly reserved children aged 3-5 years old who are toilet trained. Class numbers are limited to eight students to ensure that each child receives maximum individual attention.

Children remain in this level for the whole year.


Pace: 2 hours per week over 10 weeks

Les P'tits Loups

1-week courses for children

These school holidays, the Alliance Française is running an exciting one-week holiday program for young children - or as we like to call them les p’tits loups ! This program will acquaint preschool children with the French language through songs, storytelling and games.

On a typical day, the class begins with free play. The teacher then introduces the day’s theme through storytelling, music and other interesting activities, incorporating new vocabulary that is reinforced daily through games and fun projects including arts and crafts. Snack time provides a moment to relax, to play outside (weather permitting) and to practise basic interactions in French. While this school holiday program is entirely in French, teachers try their best to cater to specific needs and abilities of each child.

Level: This class is for preschool children age 3-5 and students currently enrolled in Prep.

Requirements: Parents must provide a morning snack for their children each day (no nuts allowed).


Pace: 2 hours a day for 5 days
PREP

Les P'tits Loups

1-week courses for children

10-week courses

This course is specifically designed for children who are learning how to read and write in their first year at school. Our expert primary school teachers adapt the program to the students' needs and their newly-acquired abilities, to make learning a new language fun and engaging. Focusing on cultural themes, we adopt an approach with an emphasis on play that is best suited to very young learners. The program helps children to discover the French language through verbal expression and repetition, songs, games, reading and some written activities,
with consistent emphasis on each child's participation.

Children remain in this level for the whole year.
