Students recite one poem from a choice of two for their year level.
The poems MUST be learnt by heart.
The title of the poem and the name of the poet must be cited.
The poem recited MUST be exactly as cited on
the Alliance Française de Melbourne website.

Performance – 9 minutes total composing TWO parts.
PART ONE General Conversation – 4 minutes the examiner asks general conversation questions
related to the student’s personal world and their interactions with the French language and culture as a learner.
PART TWO - Discussion - 5 minutes Student chooses ONE option from - (a) Either
recitation of poem or (b) presentation with a visual in line with VCE format or
(c) presentation of an image in line with IB format.
a) The student recites one poem of appropriate year level from the AFM selection and answers questions related to the poem
and poet.
OR
b) The candidate announces their chosen subtopic and the supporting visual material they have brought with them for the
discussion. The supporting visual material is a requirement. This introductory information will not be assessed. The candidate will be
asked questions focusing on the chosen subtopic and the supporting visual material.
OR
c) The student chooses and prepares one of the 5 photos supplied by the AFM. On the day of the examination, the student will give (with or without notes) a brief presentation (1 minute maximum) of their chosen photo by describing it and will answer questions (4 minutes) related to the chosen topic.
