Teaching French in 2017? Immersion Day for Victorian Teachers of French

Alliance Française de Melbourne, in partnership with Department of Education and Training (DET) is offering the opportunity for primary and secondary teachers of French to participate in a school holiday refresher course  on the 24 or 25 January 2017.

Primary and secondary teachers of French will participate in targeted professional learning sessions which will enable them to SPEAK French, SHARE practices and COLLABORATE using engaging activities and resources for the French language classroom.


The following sessions will be offered:

  • Briser la glace et dynamiser la classe: team building activities conducted in French;

  • Favoriser l’écoute, la concentration et la cohésion de groupe : group cohesion activities and practices to keep students motivated and engaged in the classroom;

  • Pratiques de classe et échange d’idées: collaborative work and discussion on the various themes/topics for varying year levels following the sequencing of the Victorian Curriculum: Languages F-10 French;

  • Ressources utiles pour la classe: presentation of new innovative resources which can be used in the classroom.

Please note, all activities will be conducted in French and will require participants to actively speak and interact in French with one another.

Who?
Primary and secondary teachers of French from government and non-government schools can apply.

When and where?
The course will be conducted during the summer school holidays  from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 January 2017, at Alliance Française de Melbourne, 51 Grey Street, St Kilda. Lunch and afternoon tea will be provided on both days.

How much?
DET will cover the course fee for all participating teachers from Victorian government schools.
A course fee of $150.00 will apply for non-government schools teachers, payable to the Alliance Française upon confirmation of enrolment.

Applicants must submit their application form by email to Aurélie Pierre, Alliance Française de Melbourne Head of Education at headeducation@afmelbourne.com.au  before Monday 28 November 2016.

Please note participants can enrol to participate in 1 day only

Submitting an application does not automatically confirm enrolment in the course. Confirmation of participation will be sent by email by Friday 2 December 2016.
