Thursday 31 March 2016

On March 31, 1889, the Eiffel Tower is dedicated in Paris in a ceremony presided over by Gustave Eiffel, the tower’s designer, and attended by French Prime Minister Pierre Tirard, a handful of other dignitaries, and 200 construction workers.
At first, Eiffel’s tower was greeted with skepticism and indignation from many who thought it would be an eyesore in the heart of Paris. Yet, the monument remained and is now a favourite landmark in the city of lights.

During the night, our tutor Aymeric will take the participants on a journey through time and history, to explore 19th-century Paris and the forces behind the construction of the Eiffel Tower. Fun and interesting facts will be unvealed, along with a delicious meal served by our hosts at Shifty Chevre.

The event will begin at 6.30pm and food will be served around 7.30pm

Menu: boeuf bourguignon (beef burgundy) with rosemary potatoes or vegetarian salad, mini cheese platter and 1 glass of wine.

Any extra drinks or food must be purchased by each participant.

Places are limited. Booking essential before Monday 28th March.
