Immerse yourself in the NGV's Melbourne Winter Masterpieces® 2025: French Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
We are delighted to join Dr.Ted Gott, Senior Curator of International Art, and colleagues from across Victoria for an online introduction to the works, themes, and ideas featured in the exhibition. Dr Gott’s presentation will be delivered in French followed by a professional learning workshop with Cecile McNamara-Plaa from Alliance Française Melbourne. Cecile will guide teachers on how to build a French lesson around the exhibition.
Event Format (online)
Part 1 – Cultural Introduction (in French)
Join Dr Ted Gott, Senior Curator of International Art at the NGV, for a virtual presentation of the exhibition. You’ll
be introduced to key artworks, artists, and themes — all delivered in French, alongside fellow educators from across Victoria.
Part 2 – Pedagogical Workshop (in French)
Following the presentation, Cécile McNamara-Plaa (Alliance Française de Melbourne) will lead a practical
professional learning session. You’ll explore creative strategies for integrating Impressionist art into your French lessons and designing
engaging, culturally rich classroom activities.
This workshop is suitable for secondary school teachers of French from Victorian government schools. Please RSVP from your school email address. Zoom links will be provided for each part of the event: 1. presentation by Dr Ted Gott. 2. PD workshop led by Alliance Française.
