About us
Founded in 1890, the Alliance Française de Melbourne (AFM) is an Australian not-for-profit association dedicated to the promotion of the French language and culture. We are the largest language centre for French in Victoria with an average of 3,000 students per year. With our team of qualified native French-speaking teachers, we offer a large range of courses, private tuition, workshops, immersion days and excursions. We are the only accredited examination centre to conduct all the diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education. Enjoying the patronage and support of the French Embassy in Australia, the Alliance Française de Melbourne organises major cultural events and competitions each year.


Key Requirements




Culture & Events

▪️ Supporting the Culture team with planning and logistics of activities and events
 ▪️ Supporting the running of the AFM Cultural space
Overseeing the French library
▪️ Hosting or helping with Café Conversation, Apéro-Jeux, French Book Club etc.
▪️ Welcoming participants and guests to cultural events

▪️ Demonstrated knowledge of or interest in French language and culture
▪️ Flexible team player with a can-do attitude, respectful of others and a strong team focus 


Education

▪️ Conception and development of education material and cultural resources
 ▪️ Development of Virtual Reality projects, with educational resources and materials
▪️ Support for various school projects
▪️ DELF examination supervision and assistance
▪️ Evaluations for oral assessments
▪️ Organisation of catch-up classes
▪️ Supporting the Education team for the smooth-running of courses and activities

NB: No independent teaching opportunities, however, you may be present in class as a teaching assistant.


Marketing

▪️ Content creation: social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), stories, blog
▪️ Looking after and engaging with online community
▪️ Independent running of the AFM TikTok account
▪️ Supporting the team with external communications (EDM, SMS marketing)
▪️ Knowledge in social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn)

▪️ Desire to pursue your career in marketing, communications, arts, culture and to gain experience
▪️ Creative mind, can-do attitude, ability to work independently and as part of a team
 ▪️  Native level of English


Customer Service & Administration

▪️ Supporting Customer Service and Sales team with processes for sales, customer satisfaction and implementing training programs
 ▪️ Involvement in operational activities including building operational processes
 ▪️ Day-to-day administrative/ operational tasks
 ▪️ Welcoming students at the beginning of each term with induction & presentation in classes
 ▪️  Sales and administration training

▪️ Excellent communication skills, phone etiquette, plus solid IT skillset



Life in Melbourne, Victoria:

  • Summer December-February (20°C-35°C), Winter June-August (10°C-15°C)
