Description and structure
TEF: Test d’Evaluation de Français / French Assessment Test. It allows non-native speakers of French to obtain a simple, effective and precise evaluation of their skills in comprehension and expression.

Issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris (CCIP), valid for 2 years from taking the test.

3 examinations: a compulsory examination and two optional examinations (see below). The optional examinations can be taken on different dates to the compulsory examination, as long as they are taken within the validity period of the test. To take the optional examinations, you must have taken the compulsory test.

Candidates receive a certificate of results with a score for each examination as well as a mention of the corresponding Common European Reference Framework for Languages level, from A1 to C2. Please click here to see the correspondence table.

Prices and schedule for 2021
Prices
The Alliance française de Melbourne organises the e-TEF, the electronic version of the test.
1 compulsory examination (computer-based): $380. It includes:

a reading comprehension examination - 60min, 50 questions, 300 points;

a listening comprehension examination - 40min, 60 questions, 360 points;
-
a language structures examination (grammar and vocabulary) - 30min, 40 questions, 240 points.
2 optional examinations (paper-based): $170 each.

Written production - 60min, dealing with 2 subjects, 450 points;

Speaking & oral interaction - 15min, dealing with 2 subjects, 360 points.
Schedule
Unless clearly advised otherwise, all exams are organised at our St Kilda location during business hours. We reserve the right to add extra days for each session.
Please note that candidates will not be able to choose their examination date. They will receive an email one week before the test at the latest to inform them of the precise day and time of their examinations.

Results
TEF results are first sent electronically to the test centre, within four to six weeks of receipt of the examination papers by the CCIP.
The test centre will receive the paper certificates within twelve weeks of receipt of the examination papers
by the CCIP.
After this, you will receive an email advising you to come and pick up your certificate. If you cannot come and pick it up, we can arrange
to have them sent to you: you will need to provide us with an A4 Registered Post envelop with your name and address on it.
If candidates wish to receive a duplicate of their certificate, they will have to order it on the CCIP
online shop
and they will be charged 50 euros.
