To celebrate la Fête de la Musique, the Alliance Française de Melbourne (AFM), the Association for French Teachers in Victoria (AFTV) and the Department for Education and Training (DET) invite you to join us for a meet-up and masterclass, on how to integrate music into French classrooms.

French teachers at the Alliance Française regularly incorporate music into their lesson plans, as there are few tools that effectively produce the same strong level of recall. The repetition, accompanied by a catchy tune, is the perfect formula for memorising new words and phrases, as well as improving pronunciation and contextual understanding. For more advanced students, songs also provide an excellent resource to engage with the language while studying current social and political issues in France.

This event is designed to bring French teachers of Victoria together to share ideas and meet other like-minded professionals, as well as to provide them with useful tips about how to integrate music into the classroom. Different types of music appropriate for primary and secondary students will be discussed, as well as where to find new releases and how best to use them as a learning tool. The evening will include complimentary wine and cheese, as well as a presentation (in French) by Anne-Sophie Pink (AFM Education Manager), Margaux Josse (AFM Head Teacher) and Janina Starnawski de Saxce (AFM Children's Course Coordinator) who have, between them, over 25 years of experience teaching French as a second language.
