L'Art de Vivre à la Française
Learn to love life like the French in this new French course for B2 level students!
The French love to enjoy life, and French society places a lot of importance on all the aspects of human pleasure and luxury that add to this enjoyment. From dining out, to shopping, reading, and visiting museums, the French have coined this way of fine living: l’art de vivre.
In this one-week French language course for B2 level, students will improve their spoken French while learning the true meaning of this expression and how they can implement it in their own lives. Each day, students will focus on a different aspect of l’art de vivre and by the end of the week they will step out of the classroom feeling confident with their French, and ready to enjoy the small pleasures in life!
During the week, students will learn about France’s cultural history, from the lavish lifestyle of Louis XIV, to the literary salons of the 18th century. We will discuss French gastronomy, food culture and the importance of table setting, as well as fashion, design and shopping. Students will learn about the importance of culture and ‘cultivating oneself’ through exhibitions, concerts, theatre and cinema as well as France’s most important traditions, parties and celebrations. A mixture of articles, videos and music will be used throughout the week to prompt discussion and support students’ learning.
