French & Fashion: the who, what & wear of haute couture
This new five-week French language course focuses on the world of haute couture and Parisian fashion from the late nineteenth century to the twenty-first century. The course is intended to complement the National Gallery of Victoria’s exhibition opening in March 2019: Krystyna Campbell-Pretty Fashion Gift that will present over 200 garments as well as designers’ sketches, workbooks, photographs and fashion magazines, tracing Paris fashion and haute couture from the late 1800s. The course will offer participants the opportunity to discuss the historical and socio-cultural aspects of French fashion while improving their spoken French. Join our resident French teacher and history expert Enzo in this exciting new cultural course!
• No prior knowledge in History or Fashion is necessary to attend this cultural workshop;
• The course will be entirely conducted in French, and is recommended for Upper Intermediate to Advanced speakers (B1+/B2 levels) who are looking to practise their conversation while learning about French fashion;
