The new Impromptu Quartet feat. Paul Van Ross

This October, the Alliance Française welcomes back The New Impromptu Quartet for a very special concert featuring saxophone and woodwind player: Paul Van Ross!

With 4 albums under his name, Paul Van Ross delights in the musical possibilities that a jazz band offers. His style is highly interactive, energetic, and engaging, and infuses a variety of inspirations from classical to Cuban. His music is rich in detail, and simultaneously pays tribute to the Jazz greats whilst remaining uniquely personal. Joining Paul will be The New Impromptu Quartet featuring Alexander Nettelbeck on piano, Conrad Henderson on bass, and Andy Horneman on drums.

Where: Alliance Française, 51 Grey St, St Kilda.
Date: Thursday 31 October at 8pm
Time: Doors open at 7:30pm. Concert starts at 8pm.
Tickets: Full $25 / AFM members $20. Advanced online bookings recommended as places are limited.

Paul Van Ross was exposed to music from an early age
: at age 6 he began studying the organ, at 12, the clarinet, and by age 15 was also honing his skills on saxophone in various school ensembles. Since completing his formal training at the University of Melbourne, and then the Victorian College of the Arts, Paul has performed extensively as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles, releasing 4 albums. He has performed with saxophone quartets, clarinet quartets, flute ensembles, big bands, jazz bands, Irish bands, African bands, funk bands and professional theatre orchestras. His versatility has enabled him to play a broad range of musical genres. His live shows are highly energetic, dynamic and display rhythmic prowess.
