Jazzy Jeudi June
Alliance Française de Melbourne & St Kilda Jazz present:
June 20 - Pat Powell
This June, the Alliance Française is delighted to welcome one of Australia’s most accomplished vocal talents to Jazzy Jeudi: Pat Powell.
Hailing from the close-knit and highly musical Jamaican community of 1960s and 70s Bristol, Pat Powell or Patou as he is sometimes known, has been gracing stages and mesmerising audiences with his dulcet tones and charismatic aura for four decades. Influenced by the R&B clubs and the Jamaican tunes played by his parents, Patou’s versatility ranges from ska to blues, hip hop to reggae and beyond. Having toured with some of the greats, such as James Brown, Queen, the Eurythmics, Crowded House and Kylie Minogue – Pat Powell is one of Australia’s most revered studio vocalists. For this very special Jazzy Jeudi, he will be joined by Alexander Nettelbeck on piano, Ben Cripps on bass and Daniel Mizzi on drums.
