MAESTRO (2014) Comedy-drama
Director : Léa Fazer
Henri Renaud (Pio Marmaï) is a young actor with barely any experience who dreams to act in Fast and Furious. Instead, he finds himself involved in the making of a film by world-famous arthouse filmmaker, Cédric Rovere (Michael Lonsdale). Though at first he is disconcerted by the unusual movie set, Henri finally becomes the key element of this mythological Greek inspired movie. His clumsy antics to seduce his partner also entertain Rovere. Despite the obvious age and cultural differences between Rovere and Henry, they form an unexpected relationship.
About the film :
The late Jocelyn Quivrin had been planning Maestro since 2009. He collaborated with Lea Fazer in order to realize the film which was inspired by his own experience with Eric Rohmer in 2007. After Quivrin’s sudden death in a car accident, the project was momentarily suspended. Lea Fazer has finished the movie as a tribute to her deceased friend by showing how transmission is essential and highlighting the arthouse cinema element which is on the verge of disappearing.
The press have labelled Maestro as a shining, humorous and touching movie. Critics particularly applauded the cinematography.
