2020 alliance francaise french film festival - Postponed

originally scheduled for 11 MARCH TO 08 APRIL 2020

Following the Australian Government’s additional restrictions (announced on Wednesday 18 March) on non-essential social gatherings, the Alliance Française French Film Festival has reviewed this advice and taken into consideration safety concerns for our patrons and staff.

We have therefore taken the difficult decision to postpone the remainder of the 2020 Alliance Francaise French Film Festival from Thursday the 19th of March to protect both our staff and patrons. You can find more information about the postponement and what this means for ticket holders on the festival website

We sincerely thank you all for your patronage and support during this unprecedented time.

If you wish to continue supporting us during this time, consider purchasing an Alliance Française membership.  But most importantly, stay safe and look after each other, we can’t wait to welcome you back.

2020 welcomes both a new decade and the sparkling 31st edition of the Alliance Française French Film Festival.

In keeping with such a momentous year, this beloved event will once again unveil a thrilling selection of contemporary French cinema, guaranteed to captivate and stimulate audiences around the country.

Presented by the Alliance Française in association with the Embassy of France in Australia and Unifrance Films, the 2020 season will screen across six Palace Cinemas from 11 March until 08 April, and include an array of features and documentaries – many of which will be screening in Australia for the first time.

Among the innumerable delights you will find a variety of special events: enjoy your film with a side of something French to eat and drink before the screening, or with a fascinating discussion at one of our Q&A sessions.
