4 facts about the film:
- First Growth was shot in Cinemascope. The director did not want to make his film a postcard but show a certain amount of truth.
- Actors from the film prepared themsleves before the shoot to embody their characters evolving in the wine environment.
- The idea of First Growth film goes back in 2006, but the script was only written in 2012.
- As the director said, the idea of filming the Burgundy was the starting point of the film.
Wine-maker son, Charlie Maréchal left Burgundy to become a renowned Parisian oenologist, author of a successful guide which annual critics make tremble all the vineyards. In the meantime, in Côte-d'Or, his father lost the taste of wine and precipitates the family winery to bankruptcy. At first reluctant, Charlie returns in Burgundy. He has to become a wine-grower and confront a job he does not know, under the sceptical look of his father.
Between an unpredictable weather and a delicate variety, Charlie will have to prove to his father that he is worthy of this land passed from generation to generation in their family.
