Running time : 2h
Director : Arnaud Desplechin

" Brilliant in his dialogue... Desplechin excels in showing a certain youth of the 1980s carried by a band of glittering young actors "
Direct Matin

Paul Daedalus is going to Tajikistan. He remembers his childhood in Roubaix, fits of madness of his mother, the link that bound him to his brother Ivan, pious and violent child... He remembers his sixteen years, his father, inconsolable widower, this trip to the USSR where a clandestine mission led him to offer his own identity at a young Russian man... He remembers his nineteen years, his sister Delphine, his cousin Bob, then the evenings with Penelope, Mehdi and Kovalki, the friend who had to betray him... From his studies in Paris, he remembers Dr. Behanzin, his nascent vocation for anthropology... And above all, Paul recalls Esther. She was the heart of his life.
