2. ORAL EXAMINATIONS AT ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE (bookings essential)
Examinations at Alliance Française are conducted on Saturdays from 1.00pm to 4pm and on weekdays 9am to 3pm. Contact the coordinator to check available times.
3. ORAL EXAMINATIONS IN SCHOOLS
Examiners are sent to schools meeting the requirements below. Please provide one room for each examiner. The order in which candidates present themselves is at your discretion. As a rule, and to help you work out your timetable, allow:
- 2 minutes per student in years 3 to 10.
- 10 minutes per student in years 11 and 12.

4. WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS
Examination papers will be forwarded by e-mail to schools upon enrolment. Written tests are to be supervised by your school and conducted under exam conditions. All exams MUST be completed in one sitting.
Deadlines for return of written tests:
Years 9 and 10: 20th June 2020
Years 11 and 12: 25th July 2020
Any papers received after the closing date will not be accepted.
5. SUBJECTS AND FEES
Payment is to be made at the time of enrolment. A recipient-created invoice is available on the Berthe Mouchette page of the Alliance Française de Melbourne website for completion to satisfy the requirements of your administrative services. Please note the fees below are inclusive of GST.

6. CONFIRMATION OF ENROLMENTS
A list of all students enrolled together with a confirmation of scheduled assessment date will be e-mailed to you as early as possible before the examinations. Any change whatsoever must be brought to our notice at least two weeks before the examination date. Please advise of any misspellings or changes by e-mail and note that certificates will be printed as the name appears on the enrolment list. There will be no refund for students enrolled in the examination and not showing up on the day. School ID Numbers will be required for the written test. This ID will be provided with the students enrolment list.
7. HORS-CATÉGORIE AND FRENCH SPEAKING STUDENTS
Candidates are considered hors-catégorie if they fall in to either of the following categories:
- Those who have the opportunity of receiving support in French at home (e.g. French speaking parent/s);
- Have spent more than six months in a French speaking country in the last 2 years.
- Have been educated in a French bilingual school for more than 2 years.
Hors-catégorie students are marked according to the same standards as others but are competing against other hors categorie
We ask for teachers’ cooperation in writing H-C next to the names of these hors-categorie candidates at the time of registration, as well as explaining to the students the meaning of H-C.
A recording of the poems is available upon payment of enrolment.
Candidates called for the Finals will receive an individual convocation slip sent to the school and passed on by the teacher.
- ORAL: Y3-10 finalists recite the same poem as previously recited during competition. Y11-12 finalists will have general conversation only (4mins)
- WRITTEN: The format will consist of a written essay in French for Y9-12. (1 hour)
The Finals of the Competition will be held at the Alliance Française on the following days:
Years 7 to 8: Saturday 1 August 2020
Years 3 to 6: Saturday 8 August 2020
Years 9 to 10: Saturday 15 August 2020
Years 11 to 12: Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 September 2020
10. RESULTS, CERTIFICATES AND PRIZES
Marks and Certificates will be mailed to schools as soon as practicable after the last round of finals in September. Laureates will be awarded their prizes at the Prize Giving Ceremony in November.
