If you learnt French in Year 10, join this holiday program to revise grammar and expand your vocabulary before heading back to school and starting VCE 1&2. Meet your native French-speaker teacher and practise your written and oral skills in a stimulating French environment thanks to interactive exercises, role-play and fun activities.

Each day of this five-day class comprises of:
- An hour and a half of Year 10 content revision
- An hour and a half of discovery activities in French, such as street art tours and exhibitions, ordering crêpes, petanque tournaments, and more! (extra costs to be covered by the student)


Pace: 3 hours a day for 5 days

If you studied French in VCE 1&2 last year, join this holiday program to revise grammar and expand your vocabulary before heading back to school and starting VCE 3&4. Meet your native French-speaker teacher and practise your written and oral skills in a stimulating French environment thanks to interactive exercises, role-play and fun activities.

Each day of this five-day class comprises of:
- An hour and a half of VCE Units 1&2 content revision
- An hour and a half of discovery activities in French, such as street art tours and exhibitions, ordering crêpes, petanque tournaments, and more! (extra costs to be covered by the student)

VCE 1&2 (B1)

10-week courses

This course is for students in their fifth or sixth year of learning French (typically Year 11) and is particularly suited to those taking VCE French Units 1 & 2. With content in line with the new VCE Study Design, this course provides extra practice at an advanced level in order to build students' confidence in French and prepare them for their tests and exams.

This program is designed to be studied over a full school year so that students can progress to the next step, Year 12 (B1) the following year. Students joining this course in Term 1 should have completed Year 10 (A2) or have been assessed prior to enrolling. If registering in Term 2, 3 or 4, please contact us before enrolling to check that this is the recommended learning option for you.

No textbooks are required for this course. All material will be provided by the teacher. 


Pace: 1.50 hours per week over 10 weeks

VCE 3&4 (B1)

10-week courses

This course is for students who have studied French for six years or more (typically Year 12) and is particularly suited to those taking VCE French Units 3 & 4. With content in line with the new VCE Study Design, this course provides extra practice at an advanced level in order to build students' confidence in French and prepare them for their assessments and final exams.

This program is designed to be studied over a full school year. Students joining this course in Term 1 should have completed Year 11 (B1) or have been assessed prior to enrolling. If registering in Term 2, 3 or 4, please contact us before enrolling to check that this is the recommended learning option for you.

No textbooks are required for this course. All material will be provided by the teacher.

Starting Year 7 French in 2022? This course is for you!

This 1-week French holiday program is designed for Year 7 students who will learn French for the first time in 2022 and who wish to get a head start before starting high school.

During this holiday program, students will be introduced to the basics of French, which will put them on the right foot for their future French studies, giving them the opportunity to start their year with confidence.

As per the Alliance Française philosophy, classes will be conducted predominantly in French with an emphasis on communication. Grammar and vocabulary typically studied in Year 7 will be introduced through various activities and exercises, involving conversation and role-play activities.

This course is for high-school students in their fourth or fifth year of learning French (typically Year 10). Building on their existing knowledge, students will learn about a range of vocabulary and cultural topics, such as French customs and how to talk about their community.

This program is designed to be studied over a full school year so that students can progress to the next step, Year 11 (B1) the following year. Students joining this course in Term 1 should have completed Year 9 (A2) or have learned French for 2-3 years. If registering in Term 2, 3 or 4, please contact us before enrolling to check that this is the recommended learning option for you.

Year 7 (A1)

10-week courses

Year 7 (A1) is for high-school students who are starting to learn French, either at school, or just with us at Alliance Française. With our native-speaking teachers, students will explore the French culture and take their first steps in learning how to communicate in French. Students will learn a range of vocabulary and language structures in French, such as greetings, counting, talking about likes and dislikes, family, hobbies and more!

This program is designed to be studied over a full school year, so that students can progress to the next step, Year 8 (A1) the following year. This course is designed for complete beginners. No prior knowledge of French is required if enrolling in Term 1. If registering in Term 2, 3 or 4, please contact us before enrolling to check that this is the recommended learning option for you.

Year 8 (A1) is for students who are in their second year of learning French. Building on their existing knowledge, students will learn how to talk about topics such as: food and drinks, the news and historical events, plan activities with friends, whilst immersed in the French culture.

This program is designed to be studied over a full school year, so that students can progress to the next step, Year 9 (A2) the following year. Students joining this course in Term 1 should have completed Year 7 (A1) or have learned French for 1-2 years. If registering in Term 2, 3 or 4, please contact us before enrolling to check that this is the recommended learning option for you.

This course is for high-school students in their third or fourth year of learning French (typically Year 9). Building on their existing knowledge, students will learn how to talk about topics such as their hopes, the past and the future, their hobbies, plans, friendships and goals.

This program is designed to be studied over a full school year, so that students can progress to the next step, Year 10 (A2) the following year. Students joining this course in Term 1 should have completed Year 8 (A1) or have learned French for 2-3 years. If registering in Term 2, 3 or 4, please contact us before enrolling to check that this is the recommended learning option for you.
