BCBG in concert at The Tote

Friday 21 August
Doors: 8pm / Door charge applies
Tickets $15+bf from Oztix

French duo BCBG is Mariette Auvray (Pussy Patrol, Eyes Behind, Water Sark) and Samuel Trifot (Feu Machin, Dorcelsius).Taking wide ranging influences from 70s Turkish psychedelic music, Berlin Techno, Dalida, Etienne Daho and French Pop, BCBG create a unique sound lead by the soaring vocals of Mariette Auvray sounding like french icons Francoise Hardy and Brigitte Fontaine but trapped in some deep dance floor spell drenched in delay and ecstasy. It sounds like there's more than two people involved but there really isn't. It could be something of an organic partnership that invents these trances.

Their latest 7" Noces d'argent was released by Australian Label Glenlivet-A-Gogh and distributed by Beko Disques (FR) and Easter Bilby (US).

GLSS is the psychic and creative relationship between Angela Bermuda and Jack Mannix - 2 Sydney based female friends, artists and musicians. Musically they create postmilennial gangster doom pop, informed in equal parts by Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV, Geto Boys and Tom Tom Club - modern club anthems and drive-by slow jams for the new doom generation. They are currently in the studio recording their debut LP with Jonathan Hochman.
