From the book to the screen: l’Ecume des jours, Michel Gondry adapts Boris Vian’s book.

Michel Gondry is a French independent film director, screenwriter, and producer. Well known for his music video collaborations with Radiohead, Björk, The Chemical Brothers and The White Stripes, he is noted in cinema for his inventive visual style and distinctive manipulation of mise en scène. In 2004 he won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay as one of the writers of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which is often ranked one of the greatest films of the 2000s.
His other films include the surrealistic science fantasy comedy The Science of Sleep (2006), the comedy Be Kind Rewind (2008), the drama The We and the I (2012), and the romantic drama Mood Indigo (2013).
The latter was adapted from the eponymous novel of Boris Vian, L'Ecume des jours, and casts popular French actors Romain Duris, Audrey Tatou and Omar Sy.
Read the book, watch the movie, analyse, discuss, converse, practise: this new course has it all for advanced students!

In this course, we invite you to discover the love story of Colin and Chloe and to immerse yourself into the surrealist and humorous world of Vian and the fantasy and poetic world of Gondry. Read the book and watch the film over 10 weeks and embark on a great French artistic journey!
